I had high hopes for this combination of items and have ended up VERY disappointed on first opening of the box.
The CD/DVD Drive is described as being a Lightscribe drive by Acer, but it is not. It does not have the Lightscribe trademark on it and the vendor is AGPtEK and is not listed as a Lightscribe manufacturer on the [...] website. Finally, Lightscribe capabilities require special drivers. There was no CDROM with said drivers in the box and the instructions provided amounted to a single large print paragraph that occupied the equivalent of a quarter of one side of a three by five card. Oh, by the way, they also didn't mention in the description that the device would require TWO USB2.0 ports to provide sufficient power to run the drive.
The battery is an even greater disappointment. I should have seen this one coming, but didn't. Contrary to the description, this battery is ALSO not from Acer as the description implies. It is ALSO from AGPtEK. The battery is approximately 2" tall when connected to the Acer Aspire One, effectively doubling the height of the back end of the netbook. All the descriptions I had read indicated that it was a small increase in thickness, but I don't consider doubling the thickness to be a small increase. Needless to say, this netbook no longer fits in its case ... nor does it fit in most other netbook cases, especially those nice neoprene cases designed to prevent damage in your briefcase or messenger bag.
I haven't even had a chance to plug either in yet, so don't know about battery performance or whether or not the CD/DVD Drive can even be made to work. Save your money and aggravation on this one. Guess I'll have to check with Amazon on the return policy when electronic items are not as described.
