(More customer reviews)This card is a great card for a refined set of circumstances. To be specific, the best thing about this card is that it has no fan (passive cooling). What this means is that the card draws less power and as such can be used to upgrade older systems with marginal PSUs. For example, I used it to upgrade an Emachine with a 350 watt power supply. I got another three years out of this machine that way and was easily able to play games I wanted to play. I specifically chose this card because it was that highest performing card with a power consumption that would run in my box. Anything that required more power would have required a larger PSU. Thus the economics of it were clear. In this role as an upgrade component for low end PCs it works awesomely.
You should consider these other facts as well
1) look around at the specs. This card comes in several variations w/wo/vga port, dual dmi ports, 256mb/512mb. You pick what you need when you upgrade.
2) if you are willing to run with lower specs in games, this card will do a good job for much of what is out there. I use it to play FALLOUT3 and WITCHER for example. These games are not 2010 games but they are not old games either.
3) the card supports physx and I advise enabling it; and the card supposedly is compatible with hybrid sli which means if your MB has an 8000 series onboard video you can get the two to work together. Arguably there is a limited market for this and I myself have never tried it but if it is what you got on hand you can offload physx to the onboard video and squeeze some additional FPS out of the 8600.
4) the card is dated. If you are building a new system, look to the newer cards.
